Wales were not short of celebrities who have defied the bob and helped to strengthen its popularity among women of today. THE bob haircut, sported by the likes of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Katie Holmes, is celebrating its 100 birthday. Actress Catherine Zeta Jones has had its part to cut as Velma Kelly in the screen version of Chicago. Twiggy continued the trend in the years 1960 and since then theres been no stopping the style. The cut durably popular was originally invented by Parisian hairdresser Antoine de Paris in 1909 and was presumably based on the reduced locks French heroine Joan of Arc, was popular in the crust and upper Bloomsbury circles by flappers in 1920. The classic style was most recently favored by many Uma Thurman, Helen Mirren and Victoria Beckham to name but a few.
